How to get your child ready for the dental check up?
Are you worried about - whether your child will panic entering the dental clinic?
Is he or she going to yell , cry and throw temper tantrums?
How to get rid of his or her chocolate habits?
What if procedures involving local anaesthesia are needed? Will your baby allow the doctor to prick in the gum?
These are the various questions which a common parent needs to think over about , before visiting a dental clinic.
It is very natural for the child to become anxious , the moment he or she comes to know that his parents are going to take him to the dentist.
The child often hears from his friends or neighbours that the dentist will prick the needle and pull his tooth which sounds very painful to the child which increases apprehension in the child.
But on the contrary if the first dental visit of the child is made with a friendly approach by the dentist then half of the anxiety may just simply go away.
lots of picture books were the dentist and the kids are talking and playing together with the toothbrush and toothpaste, talking with the teeth, etc , can be shown to the child.
Even during the treatment, lots of distractions can be entertained like showing soft toys, colour books, favourite toys, blowing bubbles in the air, TV showing cartoon , etc to relieve anxiety.
Childand parents can be explained in detail about prevention and the exact technique about how to brush his teeth and gargling everyday and to eat healthy food.
The child has to use a pea sized amount of toothpaste
Parent has to guide the child to brush twice a day
Kids should not swallow the toothpaste they have to spit out properly and under parents supervision
Gems, candies, lollipops, mint jelly, honey, caramel, chocolates accumulated in the teeth and cause caries,
so parents have to take care that they minimise the consumption of such sticky sweet foods or make sure at least that they brush their teeth after it.
